The natives who occupied what is now called Angel Mounds in Southern Indiana, have been gone for over 550 years. The fact that they were here is evident not only though the physical reminders they left behind but through the spirits that still walk this little piece of mother earth. It was not hard to be inspired when creating the images for this exhibit.

Material Witness/Physical Evidence - An Exhibition
The Gloria Singletary Gallery at the LASC-2007

Edmond Locard, a pioneer in forensic science and a man known as the "Sherlock Holmes of France," formulated the basic principle that "every contact leaves a trace." Material Witness/Physical Evidence sets out to prove Dr. Locard right. An exhibition hosted in two rooms at The LASC, the show will focus on the investigation of materiality and physicality through works of visual art.

Jurors Jennifer Reis, the Claypool-Young Art Gallery Director at Morehead State University, and John Begley, the Hite Art Institute Gallery Director and Curatorial Studies Professor at the University of Louisville, have selected sixteen artists to participate in this momentous exhibition. Collectively, their compelling and symbolically charged works range from more traditional media such as watercolor, screenprinting, cast bronze sculpture, and ceramics to mixed media works, photography and several installations. This show bears witness to a host of materials and processes and focuses on work that establishes a relationship with the viewer through its physicality and imagery. The artists represented in Material Witness/Physical Evidence are willing to push boundaries and appeal to the public's collective sense of curiosity. The Gloria Singletary Gallery at the LASC is thrilled to be offering viewers their thought-provoking works.

Double Exposure-2006
John James Audubon Museum Gallery

In this exhibition I shared the gallery with my good friend Bruce Frank, artist and photographer from Georgetown, KY. To say that our respective visions are on opposite ends of the spectrum would be an understatement. In this show his very colorful painterly approach to botanicals was in sharp contrast to my black and white stark architectural imagery. Included were some of my latest images from my Alcatraz Series. My concerns that we were so totally different in our vision was in fact a nice contrast for a show of its kind.

The Art of Recycling-2005
Henderson Fine Art Center Gallery

The pieces that I did for this exhibit go beyond my normal approach to creative expression in that I"ve been exclusively a 2D artist for many years. I had not worked in any 3D medium since my college days and I found it quite fun and rewarding, not to mention surprising to other artists who know me. Both of the pieces I entered received awards from the shows judge. They can be seen at http://ohiovalleyart.org/recycleshow

The assignment which lasted over the better part of 2004 was to portray their three large power plants in more of an "artistic fine art approach" to their industry, an assignment that dreams are made of for an artist working in the corporate world. WKEC placed no creative restrictions on my approach or vision and no restrictions were placed on where I could shoot. The result culminated in 248 images from which the client chose the final 58 images for hanging in their offices.

Memories Lost . . . Not a Show but a Condition.

Unfortunately for me, due to bad memory and poor record keeping, listing any further exhibitions I have participated in and awards that I have won will be impossible to do. It really is true what they say about remembering the 60's! I'm not sure how that applies to the 70's, 80's or 90's!
